Yes, very different. The theme for The Dukes was Waylon's "Good Ol' Boys" not "The General Lee"

Not 'very different'. Listen to the 2 songs again then explain how they're different, musically.

The TV theme is a 'bastardisation' but still the same song.

Edit: I'm in the UK, perhaps different releases, but I'm sure that I've got Johnny Cash singing the 'General Lee' and it is 'Dukes of Hazzard', original 70s or 80s. Cheesy

Edit again: ^^ I see where you're coming from. Different song, I agree. Watch the TV versions of the 'Dukes' again'. The 'General Lee' is played almost every week.

It still isn't the same song, regardless. They may sound alike, they may have been sort of about the same thing, but they were not the same song, Cash's song came out after the theme did (if it didn't then it wouldn't make sense). They aren't the same song, even the guitar playing is different.

Kaitie.

The theme tune and the 'General Lee' featured a lot of times. The 'General Lee' was always the song played when Boss Hogg was chasing the Duke boys.

That was a "fan-made" video for one. One of my very close friends (who knows all and everything in or apart of that show) said "No, that Johnny Cash song never appeared on the show, ever." He has every episode of the Dukes of Hazzard, including the reunion specials and even some of the scrapped tape of Waylon messing up his dialogue in the studio.

Here is an excerpt about the theme from the Dukes on Wikipedia :
The theme song "The Good Ol' Boys" was written and performed by Waylon Jennings. He was also "The Balladeer" (as credited), and served as narrator of the show. However, the Jennings theme song that is currently available for purchase is not the same version that was used on the show's opening credits. The differences being the show featured a different verse ["...Fightin' the system like-a two modern day Robin Hoods"], an enhanced bass line, a shorter length, and includes the famous "Yee-haw" yell at the end.

The radio/commercial version does not include a banjo being played on it. The television features a banjo, most likely played by Waylon Jennings himself. The list of musicians on either version is not available, but is possibly made up of Jennings' group The Waylors.

The only thing that "The General Lee" has actually ever appeared on was the Soundtrack for the show, it was NEVER on the show.

If it is the song from the "Silver" album (1979), then it's official and can't be shared here. Or do you mean a different version/song?
